BY “TOMORROW”, I OBVIOUSLY MEANT “ABOUT A WEEK LATER”.sun, dec 02 07 at 15:17consider this a reminder to recount the last two tiring jet-lagged days in full detail when i wake up tomorrow morning at an ungodly hour. and oh yes, there will be photos. love, tanyatiredandsorepants
————————————- Alright, it’s about 9:40am, Michael is still miraculously in bed, and I’ve already been up almost 5 hours.
So before we headed off to Hong Kong, my mother had made a request for some towels. Not one or two, but TWELVE. And the expensive kind, of course. Luckily I packed as lightly as I could manage, and borrowed one of M’s duffel bags:
The rest of my clothes were squeezed into the sides to make room for this monstrosity:
Yes, I’m surprised I could fit a footspa in my suitcase, too! So, the morning of the 30th, we woke up ridiculously early and pottered around until Michael’s parents gave us a lift to the airport. I, of course, was incredibly nervous about forgetting something, anything.. the best I could manage was that I’d forgotten to pick up some Chicago programmes, so I didn’t do too badly! We arrived at the airport about 3 hours before the flight, which may have seemed unnecessary, but we still ended up being the second to last people to check in! So here we are, fresh on the plane and ready for an 11 hour flight.
We came prepared with books, music, a nintendo DS, and not to mention the entertainment at hand. The selection was insane, to the point where I couldn’t decide on what to watch! I wanted to watch Hairspray, Superbad, Eagle vs. Shark and the Simpsons movie again, not to mention The TV Set, Roman Holiday or Perfect Creature! In the end I only watched one movie, and that was Hot Rod, which was friggin hilarious. Highly recommended. Go see this asap. I ended up reading “The Life of Pi” for god knows how long, before I ended up incredibly nauseous. Watched the daniel radcliffe episode of Extras and felt better. We made a conscious effort not to keep track of the time, believing that being ignorant of how fricking long 11 hours actually was, we could somehow bend time and it would totally seem way shorter. How wrong we were. Here we are, 11 hours later:
And here are the hilarious screencaps during our descent:
Note how huge our plane is, compared to THE PLANET
And here we are, hanging out in space.
I bet this is exactly what the control panel looks like.
We get through customs with no problems, except that I scan my crazy hi-tech ID card into the unmanned machine and get through fine, and Michael has to line up for ages. Ha! The weather, as I expected it, was actually quite nice and cool! Much to the chagrin of Michael, who insisted that it was going to be scorching hot here the entire time and mainly only brought shorts. THats what he gets for not listening! It’s winter! We DO have seasons! Finally we arrive home, to find our house ridiculously re-decorated with new and humungous faux-antique-italian furniture. My mother’s idea. I tell her it’s BEAUTIFUL and die a little inside. Oh well, at least I’m hardly ever here! Venturing into my newly decorated bedroom, all you can see is a ridiculously large king sized four-poster bed, with about 50 pillows and red and gold bed covers. I fake a gasp and tell them i love it. I’ll take a photo of the monstrosities later (did i mention the CHANDELIERS?!). However, you can get a quick glimpse of said bed in this photo of Michael, having a look at a free brochure:
And thus concludes day one. IS IT TIME TO KICK-START THIS BLOG?sun, nov 25 07 at 16:24i think so. but i’ll think of something better to write about tomorrow.
I AM A DORK.thu, jun 21 07 at 19:33We all know this, it doesn’t even need to be said. SO, why the huge blankety blanks? Because on top of being a dork, I’m also slightly useless when it comes to internetting, as well as keeping this thing updated. It’s a wonder that the thing hasn’t eaten itself from lack of activity. Right, let’s see. I keep forgetting what I’ve written in the previous post when I write these, and then I realise, OH YEAH, NOTHING! bahaha. There used to be about a bajillion 48 Hours stills, but I took them down because, well, something about possible disqualification or something. BUT! Since we’ve done our screening thing, may I possibly post them again? MAYBE! Or i’ll do a sneaky link instead. (keep it on the DL, in case we win national cinematography, ssssh) OH YEAH we won stuff! Well we got nominated for lots of things, but most importantly, we won a sweet camera, wooooooooooooooo! And so that was the 48.
Oh yes, things that have been keeping Tanya busy: Tutoring FCP! (Yes! I kind of have a job now! And I’m NOT doing it for free!! GASP!!)
HACTUALLY, speaking of driving, after my lesson today, my driving instructor just happened to mention that she’s booked me in for my restricted test ON THE 22ND OF JULY HOLY CHRISTICLES.
But exciting, and I’m not going to back out. Eeeeeeeeeeeeek.
ONE MORE THING!! My (b)ear-muffs arrived!!!
And this post has come full circle. Dork in action. (DIA)
