MY, MY.

fri, may 04 07 at 10:32

I have been quite slack, haven’t i. Here’s a slightly inadequate recap of the last month or so before I head out to TA again and return with more hilarity to share!

Well! Following Marama and Joe’s engagement party, yes, the one with at least 200 photos featuring poses, “fisting”, dance-offs and not to mention that cake, I was shipped off to Te Aroha for two weeks to help out with The Sword the Wand and the Stone, or TSTWATS if you will. (snigger!)

As with anything that involves a small amount of people, there was a surge of in-jokes that came about. I shall list them all here and no one else will find them as hilarious as i!

It’s a matter of trust.
The Circle of Awesome
SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR FACE!!
G-Force
tanyapants-off
Y-YOUR NAME IS JO!
lenny, marko, jord-o, etc

And so on and so forth.

After the initial shock of actually DOING STUFF again, it was incredibly fun!

That could have been the drinking every night, but I reckon it was DEFINITELY the GREAT COMPANY.

As with any venture I partake in, it was not without incident. I tripped over a cement block with some dangerous looking metal rods AAAAND i rolled my ankle again! (it was the other foot this time, though!) AWESOME! I once again have some SWEEET bruises!

In the midst of all this, M and i went to see the Magic Numbers. They were indeed “magical”, as my sister described them. And the bass player was ROCKING OUT during really mellow songs. Fantastic.

I ditched last weekend’s Te Aroha excursion to go to some gigs I could not miss out on!

Friday
Pie Warmer, Teen Wolf and The Brunettes

Saturday
GoldenAxe, The Ruby Suns, The Sneaks and The Cosbys’ last show EVER!

Sigh. So good, so sad, so sweaty. R.I.P., Cosbys.

Spent this last week catching up with as many people as possible. I’d been quite hermitic in the weeks leading up to the TA explosion and basically forgot what all my friends looked like.

I’ve decided that a boardgame afternoon should definitely be a regular thing.

I still hate hospitals. Was not too pleased to visit one again when I’d had to see Aidan. He’d been in a motorcycle accident and was INCREDIBLY lucky to come out with hardly a scratch on him. Needless to say I gave M a bit of a lecture to BE CAREFUL.

Luckily Aidan is fine and home now and healing nicely.

SO! Exciting nerdy stuff!

As some of you know, I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with namecards and business cards and things. Even when I was young I’d make my own out of those neon green cards and draw awesome portraits!

So you can imagine my pure glee when THESE ARRIVED IN THE MAIL!!

Some of you already have one.. or two.. or ten!! I heart them.

I dont care that the people I’m giving them to already have/know the information on the back, they’re still AWESOME. (like i am, obv.)

Okay, I’m done for now. I should pack and stuff.

But before I go, here’s dusty sitting on M’s butt.

hehehehehe.

DANCE-OFF / POSE-OFF 2007

sat, apr 14 07 at 15:11

With the massive amounts of fancypants photos taken with Joe’s fancypants camera, I don’t think a write up is really necessary.

Just open up your music player, put “Tainted Love” by Soft Cell on repeat, and click below.

(This would be an excellent time to use the “slideshow” feature.)

I had a lot of fun with tags whilst uploading this batch. A few of my favourites:

poseoff
danceoff
shower
doubles
omgcake
speech
W
bluesteel
boobs
fists
morningafter

heeheeheeheehee. such a nerd. :(

Also, TSTWATS is wearing me out. One week down, one week and 3 weekends to go.

EVERYTHING’S COMING UP MILHOUSE!

Another brief recap before I pack for hamilton/te aroha!

I FINALLY WENT TO RAINBOW’S END!

Granted, it was completely empty which meant that the rides were only available in alternating 40 minute sessions, but damn straight did we make the most of it. Including going on the corkscrew rollercoaster 5 times in a row which in turn made me extremely nauseous and I didn’t go on anymore rides after that.

It was incredibly fun.

The next day we had spontaneously planned to play minigolf at the airport, and waited for the airbus. And waited.. and waited. After an hour and a rant from Michael about how the army had made him impatient, we decided just to go home and watch Indiana Jones (and the Raiders of the Lost Ark) instead. (NOW i get all the references!!)

I had not intended on getting as drunk on Thursday night as I had.

My plans were to make a brief appearance at two parties and get home in time to possibly watch a dvd.

At Aidans and bottle of wine later, I realised it was 10:15, and speedwalked home, keeping an eye out for creepy dudes in bushes (none this time).

I didn’t get home til about 10:30 and by this stage I was wondering whether I should bother going to the other thing at all, but felt quite guilty as I’d already sent a txt message saying “I will definitely be there! Can’t wait to catch up!” etc etc.

Called a cab, and half an hour later it finally came.

The taxi driver spends the next 10 minutes stalling in my driveway, looking for where Minnie St is.

We get there, and drive around for another 10 minutes trying to look for her house.

I txt her saying, “hey! i’m in a taxi on your st and we can’t find your house!”

Turns out they didnt think I was coming and they’d gone to the Schooner Tavern.

So I think, why the hell not? Though I’m not sure how I’m going to smuggle in this bottle of wine. I ask if I should meet her there, get no reply, and assume good times ahead anyway.

The taxi driver gets lost again and we end up in Sandringham.

He consults his map and we eventually make it out and onto K rd and into town.

Just as we’re nearing Britomart she finally replies with, “Um, the bands are all finished now, and the party is at some dudes house”

The meter is at about $30+, and I’ve been in this taxi for over half an hour by this point.

I tell the driver to just drop me off at britomart and that I’d get the bus home.

He turns right, (the opposite direction to britomart) instead of left, and I am quite angry at this point and say some rather mean things. He offers to drive me back home. I direct every turn there.

45 minutes in this taxi later, I’m back at home and am charged $35 anyway. For a nice ride around the city.

Seething, I memorise his details aloud and made a formal complaint.

Funnily enough the man who answers was a taxi driver who is now doing the phones and he recognises my voice, “You’re the girl from Hong Kong, right?” Turns out he was this lovely taxi driver who I had a good chat with, AGES ago. He says he’d make sure something happens.

Dang taxis.

On a more happy note, if you’re in the mood for some feel-good folk (and have an hour or so to kill), have a look at the Polka Dot Dot Dot/Ladybird/Max says show I’ve edited and uploaded to youtube.

Here’s the first:

For the rest, click here! ;D
